A Class 11 student, Anshul Kumar, was stabbed to death by a group of ten men in a market in Faridabad on Tuesday evening. The police reported that the attackers were armed with knives and rods, stabbing the victim 14 times in less than a minute before fleeing the scene. The victim succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
The incident occurred when Anshul, accompanied by his sister Anjali, visited the market to buy snacks. While Anjali was at a sweet shop, the attackers surrounded Anshul and launched a violent assault. Witnesses stated that the attack happened in full public view, but fear prevented anyone from intervening. Anjali and local residents took Anshul to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
The police identified the accused as Harsh Mathur, Rohit Dhama, Himanshu Kumar, Karn, Mohammad Sajid, Rupesh, Karan Koli, Vasu, Deepak, and Jatin, all aged between 19 and 21 years. Preliminary investigations revealed that Anshul had an ongoing dispute with the group. A few days earlier, the accused had reportedly threatened Anshul on Instagram, prompting the family to lodge a complaint with the police. The family alleged that their warnings were dismissed, despite the threats being specific.
The accused are suspected of being involved in criminal activities, including drug peddling and harassment of girls in the Baslewa colony. According to statements provided to the police, the argument escalated into a targeted attack to settle scores. Some of the accused have prior criminal records, including robbery cases registered at local police stations.
The police have registered an FIR under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. All ten accused have been arrested and are in custody. Investigators are reviewing evidence and gathering witness statements to build a comprehensive case against the suspects. Further developments are awaited.
